A Pox On Civilization

Daily Draw: Rocambol Tarot ~ 6 of Swords

Each day as I look at these cards I think about how long the Mesoamericans survived and how sophisticated their culture was, and how fast it collapsed with the invasion of the Spaniards. They had never seen horses or ships until that time, yet had a far flung coastal trading system serviced by canoes and porters.

I'm reminded by this card which often shows a small boat traveling away, and the fiscal cliff idiocy; that we can run but we can't hide, eventually we too will fade into history. Leaving nothing for future archeologists to ponder but billions of smart phones and plastic sacks.

"All our lauded technological progress -- our very civilization - is like the axe in the hand of the pathological criminal." ~  Albert Einstein 1879-1955
