Daily Draw: Deirdre of the Sorrows Tarot ~ 5 of Swords
Why do siblings fight? I'm sure the experts yap on and on about competition and jealously but I'm not buying it for a minute. Where does all that meanness and hate come from in children who've never been exposed to it themselves? And I've often thought religious fanatics and rampaging soldiers have nothing on the cruelty seen in the schoolyard.
I'm reminded by this card we may unconsciously pick up parental prejudices but much of that meaner than a junkyard dog blackness must be born into us. Does it make us better persons to spend our adult life recognizing and fighting back from that wasteful malice? Is that some venomous God's idea of entertainment? And why do we find it acceptable to say or do something to one we love when we wouldn't even consider that conduct with a stranger? No answers today, just more sorrow.
'It
is remarkable by how much a pinch of malice enhances the penetrating
power of an idea or an opinion. Our ears, it seems, are wonderfully attuned to
sneers and evil reports." ~ Eric Hoffer 1902-1983

This is the new form of bullying. It used to be with shoves and slaps, now it is with cruel words...
